AXIS CAPITAL

As a Data Engineer Intern at AXIS Capital I worked on the Catastrophe (CAT) Modeling Team for re-insurance. My work consisted of the processing, organization, and analysis of financial and geo-spatial data associated with CAT models.

I led a project which aimed to reverse-engineer catastrophe (CAT) models by performing statistical analysis on a combination of financial and geo-spatial data. CAT Models model the financial loss associated with a variety of catastrophies, such as natural and man-made disasters. My analysis focused specifically on estimating the financial loss distributions of property damage associated with hurricanes through the use of both parametric and non-parametric methods. I performed this analysis with Python, SQL, and R within Databricks Notebooks.

When I began my time at AXIS, I also took on the migration of legacy SQL databases to a modern data architecture, improving data querying and retrieval times for streamlined data pipelines.
